Learn to scuba dive

Want to learn how to scuba dive? You’ve definitely come to the right place!

Loughborough Students Union Sub-Aqua Club (LSUSAC for short) is a British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) affiliated club based at Loughborough University.

We offer BSAC training courses from the entry level Ocean Diver course all the way up to the Dive Leader course. You can see the diver progression chart from BSAC to the right.  If you want to learn a bit more about the courses head over to our ‘training’ page.

As a new diver, you’ll be guided by our instructors through the Ocean Diver course. This consists of some classroom theory, so you understand how to dive safely, along with some pool sessions where you’ll be paired with an instructor and get taught how to dive!

Once you’ve learnt the basics you’ll get to do some dives in open water, this usually takes place in a flooded quarry called ‘Stoney Cove’. You’ll dive with an instructor again who will help you perfect the skills you learnt in the pool whilst in a more challenging environment.

When you complete your open water training and get some experience dives under your belt, you’ll be a fully qualified BSAC Ocean Diver!

This qualification is recognised globally and will be your ‘license to dive’ wherever you go.
